Ghatastha Yoga Method

Historically Ghatastha Yoga has been used as a synonymous term for Hatha Yoga.

Ghatastha Yoga Method is a flowing form of Hatha Yoga comprised of techniques for transforming the blood flow throughout the body and to realise optimum health and vitality. Decreased tightness and tension held in the muscles allows free circulation of the blood. This brings relief from mental, emotional and physical tensions, the root cause of disease.

The term Ghatastha literally means “within the pot” and implies looking at the body as a sealed container. All the techniques employed are used to balance and harmonise the vital energy inside the sealed container of the body.  The body is purified and made firm so that it ceases to leak energy, in the same manner a clay pot that has been well baked in a fire can hold water.  Energy may then increase inside the body to heal illness, increase vitality and reveal higher states of consciousness.

All asana are intended directly or indirectly to quiet the mind.  Yoga asanas performed correctly work on three physical levels, firstly, invigorating the circulatory system, secondly the nervous system and thirdly the endocrine system.  When all three bodily systems are working to their full potential, a state of wellbeing is induced and healing of all ailments occurs naturally.

Another purpose of asana work is to create a focus and harmony between body, emotions, mind and breath.

The movements of the Ghatastha Yoga Method harmonise body, mind and breath, leading to ultimate health, fitness and vitality.

Catherine is currently the only teacher qualified and approved by Duncan Ewing to teach the set forms of The Ghatastha Yoga Method
